The screen size for mobile app development can play a very important role based on your decisions of platform – especially for game development.
In web apps, you will almost always follow the simple rule of “stacking” (list or grid) for your layouts. Â Using web based interfaces that can simulate native apps, provide the most ‘bang for the buck’. Â While your designs might take on a ‘small’ and ‘large’ screen versions, they most likely will be fine with implementing just the small version.
In game development, the whole game experience and function might need to change with a smaller screen.  So, planning and prototyping on the different screen sizes (small and large) will be key to verifying play-ability.
In either case, your graphics should be designed for the largest screen size (currently that is iPad at 1024 x 768). Â You can scale and crop those graphics later as needed. Â For more information on dealing with different screen sizes and the best practices:

Well, it has been over 6 years since the last release of my open source software project Secure Data Manager (SDM). Â It is a password and other sensitive data manager – for securely storing, maintaining, and using your passwords, credit cards, etc. Â http://sdm.sourceforge.net/
I started developing this application back in 2002. Â The goal was to learn more about open source, Java desktop development, and obtain a password manager that I knew I could trust. Â Open source password managers are really the best way to do it (if you can read code) – this ensures that what you get is not infested with any viruses. Â The project has been an interesting project. Â I don’t know if we will do any more releases, but I continue to use the product daily. Â We might one day develop a mobile compatible version (that was one of our goals).
My son Joseph and I recorded the song “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt over the weekend. Joseph did a great on vocals with this difficult song. He had only practiced it the previous day. It has been 1.5 years since he was forced to do a play (by me) where they then forced him to sing. He has improved greatly since then. I look forward to hearing what he can do by next year!
[audio:youre_beautiful_-joseph_v1.mp3|titles=You’re Beautiful]We have many options opening up that enable us to develop for the different smartphone platforms besides their native languages (iPhone = Objective C, Andriod = Java). While I like developing in Java, I don’t want to develop in Objective C. Take a look at the available options we have now to develop in Andriod, iPhone, and the other popular smartphones (Windows Mobile, RIM, Blackberry)…

I haven’t decided what to call it yet. No lyrics so far. Let me know what you think. If you have some ideas on lyrics, let me know. You can even collaborate with me on Indabamusic.com.
